We are pleased to announce that we will be working concessions at the Mariners Games again this year as our fundraiser. Last year this was a very successful fundraiser and we were able to earn more than $24,000 for the team. The Mariners Games help us to be able to keep our tuition low and to raise money to attend the National Competition, so we are very grateful to be able to participate in this program.
The game requirements for this year will remain the same. Students on the Youth Premier Team will be required to complete 6 games, and they will have the option of working additional games and applying the money to their Competition Team Fee. Students on the Youth Backup and Junior Premier Teams will be required to complete 4 games. Students on the Junior Backup Team are not required to participate in this fundraiser.
Helpful Hint: The easiest way to get your games done is to recruit family and friends to come and help you. If a student on the Junior Premiere comes to work and brings 3 people—they are done for the year! So get your neighbors, relatives, and friends together and make it a party. The hardest way to complete this fundraiser is by doing each game alone, one by one. Parents—we need you! This is a great chance to work along side your child and get to know them better.
We have been assigned a stand that requires a minimum of 14 volunteers per game—7 adults and 7 students. We have signed up to work 20 games over the months of July, August, and September. Important:
• Please send Heather (heather@pacificballroom.org) your game requests. She will let you know the remaining availaibilty. Please see the list of available dates and times below. Hurry, games are filling up quickly; extra games will most likely not be available.
• Parents who wish to be stand managers will be paid $70 per game. I need 3 managers per game. These assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis.
• If you are unable to fill your assignment it is your responsibility to trade with another family or otherwise find someone to fill your slot. Be sure to let Heather know of the change so that the Gate List can be updated.
• If you fail to show up for your assignment without making arrangements to cover it, you will be charged $60 per person to make up for the team’s lost income opportunity.
• In the past Centerplate has always had need of extra workers, and so it was easy to sign up for games at any time. HOWEVER, this year the Mariners are not winning and game attendance is very low. If the trend continues they will not need extra workers. Do not count on being able to make up games later in the season. If you do not take advantage of your assigned date, you will likely need to pay the buyout.
• In the past I have been able to opt out of all Sunday games. However, this year because of the low attendance at games, Centerplate was not willing to give us dates that are outside of the assigned schedule. I know that Sunday games are not ideal for most families. Please let me know if you are willing and able to work these games. There are 4 Sunday games.
• Students and Parents need to turn in a Volunteer Agreement at the tryout or before. This Agreement is available above.
• Please read the Group Coordinator Handbook and note changes to this year’s policies.
• If you read the Group Coordinator Handbook you will note that this year Centerplate will be paying a minimum guarantee of $63 per game. However, we will still be crediting our volunteers $60 per game. This is simply because the math is much simpler with $60 than with $63 and we want to make this easy to coordinate.
• All financial penalties that our group incurs will be passed on to the responsible volunteer(s). This includes penalties for being late, not in uniform, or for excessive stand shortages. Please be on time, properly dressed, and responsible in your stand to avoid being charged penalties.
• All adults need to obtain a Liquor License.
• All students must be age 16 at the time of the game they work—NO EXCEPTIONS.
We appreciate your cooperation. We anticipate another fun and successful season!
